Solve at MIT, 5/12, with Mary Barra, Yo-Yo Ma, and President Reif
May 6, 2020
To the members of the MIT community,
I write to invite you to tune into Solve at MIT's closing plenary session.
When: Tuesday, May 12, 2:45–4:30 PM ET
Please register to attend.
This session, hosted virtually, will feature:
- A fireside chat between President L. Rafael Reif and General Motors Chairman and CEO Mary Barra, who will discuss leadership in the face of the global Covid-19 crisis and world challenges like climate change.
- A performance by world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma, who will also explore how to find inspiration and connection while physically apart, and the links between art, culture, and technology.
- The Solve Investor Showcase, which will include Solver pitches and an announcement of the first investments of Solve Innovation Future, a groundbreaking philanthropic venture fund.
In addition to watching this session live, I encourage you to explore how you can engage with Solve:
- Submit a solution to Solve’s 2020 Global Challenges, including the Health Security & Pandemics Challenge. More than $1.5 million in funding is available for this year’s selected teams.
- Host a Solveathon workshop for your organization or, if you're a student, participate in Solve’s Global Virtual Solveathon on June 4.
- Sign up to review solutions submitted to Solve’s Global Challenges.
- For students, join Solve’s Student Roundtable on June 2 with MIT alumna Juana Becerra to brainstorm how students can get more involved with Solver teams and Solve.
To learn more, visit Solve’s website or email solve@mit.edu.
I hope you’ll join the Solve at MIT closing plenary. Don't forget to register!
Sincerely,
Martin A. Schmidt, Provost
